Taking charge of your life and the things you do is vital to living in harmony with your times and circumstances. You cannot assign this responsibility to others because they may not have your self-interests at heart. Even if they did, they will never know you the way you know yourself. Thus, their best intentions may not turn out the way you hope. The saying goes, “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” There are many reasons to take charge of your life. Read on to learn about them.

Taking Charge Empowers You

Taking charge empowers you. No longer do you remain a passive victim of circumstance. No longer do you worry about what comes next. No longer do you give up control of your life to external factors or other people. Instead, you become an active participant in events. In the process, you gain the power to protect your own interests. By taking charge of your own actions and responses, you can react to and even pre-empt events as they happen. This enables you to act in harmony with your times and circumstances. By doing so, you gain peace of mind.

Taking Charge Lets You Influence Events

When you take charge of your life, you gain influence over events through the actions and choices you make. This allows you to shape and control the outcome of events to a certain degree. Thus if you are unhappy with the way things are going, you can change it. You can take action to get the desired outcome you want. At the very least, you would be better off than if you just accepted things as they were. If events are turning out in your favour, taking charge helps you to increase and prolong your good fortune. Due to your involvement, you may even be able to duplicate the event in the future.

Taking Charge Teaches You to Handle Challenges

Everyone faces challenges in life. Whether you are rich, poor, young or old, you will face challenges. Life does not wait for you to be prepared. Challenges will happen to you when you least expect it. The only thing you can do is to learn to manage it well. The only way to do so is to take charge every time you face a challenge. The more you practice, the better you become. In time, you will gain the skill sets needed to manage any challenge you face with the composure of a seasoned veteran. This will help you to get the best outcome possible each time.

Taking Charge Unleashes Your Creativity

To resolve the challenges you face, try using new tactics and methods. You cannot expect different results if you keep doing the same thing. Thus when you take charge, be creative in your approach. Do not be afraid to try new methods and fail. Instead, when you make mistakes, learn from them. Find new ways and creative solutions to build upon your experiences. In the process, you will learn to unleash your creativity and open up new opportunities for yourself.

Taking Action

Your actions and the choices you make influence your life. Whether you are a victim or a participant, life goes on. Challenges will continue to happen to you. Since that is the case, it is better to take charge and shape things to your liking rather than to accept them as they happen. By doing so, you have a higher chance of leading the life you wish to lead.

  1. Anybody who values his life will be thankful for this site. Who doesn’t want to take charge of his life? Good read. Vital information. I’ll be around for more. I’m just starting to let every word sink into my consciousness. Thank you.

  2. I was bouncing around the warrior forum and was reading a few of your excellent posts there. I clicked on the link in your sig and ended up here. It was exactly what I needed to read. Thanks.

  3. Taking charge is definitely important. And, of course, there are times when we can’t change things as we’d like. But taking charge isn’t just physical action, it’s also action of the mind. Choosing to see things in perspectives that empower us the most and give us peace.

    • Hi Bamboo Forest,

Yes I fully agree with you that taking charge is an action of the mind. It is our mind and our perception of events that influence the way we behave. As such our minds are like water which can float or sink the boat. If we see things in a way that empowers us and gives us peace, we can better handle the challenges we face.

  4. Hi there, and thank you so so much for the comment you left over at my blog! It’s nice to come here and check out some posts from someone so likeminded. It’s funny how so many people (myself formerly included) didn’t realise the power they had in CHOOSING to take control of their lives. Just content to sit and complain about what they don’t like without doing anything about it. It sounds so simple when you say “just take action!” but it’s so TRUE!

    • Hi Emily,

It was a pleasure leaving my comments on your blog. :)

As you would know, it can be a daunting challenge to take responsibility for your own life initially. For many, it is a big change in the way they used to do things; from being passive to proactive. There is lots of fear and uncertainty. But if we make it past that first hurdle, you become more seasoned with practice. First, it is the small problems you manage, but soon, you will gain the muscle to manage bigger ones.

      Thanks for your comments! :)

  5. You have to believe in something! Have Faith!!!!Otherwise you will be easily swayed by the winds of change.
