This morning, a dear friend of mine returned to the States. I will probably not see her for some time and it causes me deep anguish. Separation from people you are close to is never easy. Yet pain is something we all have to deal with at one point or other in our lives. While pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. The sooner we get through the healing process, the sooner we will be able to let go of our pain. Here are the steps that I took to manage my pain.

Having purpose and meaning in life is vital to living. Without a clear purpose, we drift from day to day like zombies, not knowing what we are doing or why. Without a clear path to follow, any path is just as good. Under such conditions, it is no surprise that we end up making poor choices that lead to problems and regrets in the future. But what makes a purpose inspirational? How do we find or create such a purpose for ourselves? I have always been a big fan of the underdog. I love stories where they struggle against great odds with courage and determination because it inspires hope. No matter how much hardship they face, they refuse to stay down or to give up. Written well, such stories are moving and instructional. One of my favourite underdogs is Rock Lee from the popular Naruto manga written by Kishimoto Masashi. Lee is a classic underdog with a pure heart. His slight goofiness only adds to his likeability. Today I will share why I like him.
