The Reason Darth Vader Dislikes Iron Man

Laughter is good for the soul. It reduces tension and helps us to relax. In truth, there is humour all around us if we take the time to look for it. One of the most uplifting things we can experience is to find humour in everyday life. It is a wonder to see the familiar with fresh and bright eyes.

The Reason Darth Vader Dislikes Iron Man

So why does Darth Vader dislike Iron Man? The simple reason is jealousy. While I was looking at some photos from a friend’s trip, I came across this unintentionally funny scene. To my mind, I see a showy Iron Man shamelessly hogging the limelight with his questionable poses. But in the background, my heart goes out to Darth Vader who looks left out.

It sure isn’t easy being a bad guy. Even this great villain of the galaxy has his tender moments. For some reason, Elvis Presley singing “Crying in the Chapel” comes to mind. Given his body language, I can imagine big bad Darth Vader doing that after getting off work. Even so, I am not foolish enough to ask him about it. He is likelier to Force choke the life out of me rather than admitting it.

Taking Action

Life is all about perception and we have the power to control the way we perceive things. It is well and good to laugh, but this is also a good opportunity to be creative. What title or caption do you think would be suitable for the picture? How would you perceive the situation? Do share your ideas and your comments below! :)

  1. Nice…hahaha. Creative energy is very high right now. Lets see…Darth Vadar is only projecting what he doesn’t like about himself. He appears to be very lonely in his world. The more Iron Man shines his light and confidence, the better Darth Vadar can see the image in the mirror reflecting back at him. ;-)

    • Hi Kenya,

Glad you liked this article! :D

What you say is true. The price of negativity is loneliness. It is hard for others to want to be around you if you are negative all the time. Hopefully the example of Iron Man will inspire Darth Vader to be more flashy…maybe he could try some other colours with his costume. That might make him more popular. :P

  2. “Hey, you. I think my buddy back here needs a face. (Hmmm, what face do you have on today?)”

    • Hi Patti,

Lol! Having the right face makes a world of difference especially when it comes to social interactions doesn’t it? This is another reason to be more conscious of the image we are projecting towards others.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  3. Very funny. I’m enjoying the playful mood you’ve been in lately. Here is another Darth Vadar moment. It is a commercial. I’ve watched it a gazillion times and I laugh every time! (I’m easy to entertain.) Enjoy!

    • Hi Galen,

Haha! I love this commercial. I first saw it because Patti posted an article on it on her blog. After that it remained firmly in my memory. The little Darth Vader was really cute! :D

I am glad you enjoy my playful mood. I think it is important to lighten up once in awhile instead of being serious all the time. We could always use more humour in life.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  4. Lol, this is one way of saying “What can you tell from a picture?” ;-)

Nice post Irving, I had no idea that Darth Vader was even aware of Iron Man – as they are, it’s a shame that they don’t get on so well. Maybe the girl behind Iron Man was once Darth Vader’s girlfriend? :-)

    • Hi Stuart,

They say that a picture paints a thousand words, so it might as well be a funny scene so that people will laugh. I am glad you liked the article. :)

Hmm I never considered it from the girlfriend angle. It is very interesting how different people can look at the same thing and come up with so many different perspectives. All the more reason we should always listen to opinions carefully to discover ideas we might miss otherwise.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  5. I like the levity here today, Irving. Seems to me Darth Vader perfectly depicts our Counterfeit Self while Iron Man exults as our Authentic unlimited nature. The Darth Vader / Counterfeit Self is the root problem of all problems – it contains erroneous opinions that make us feel inferior and unworthy. Iron Man is helping us to deny the lie and reveal our own unique entirety.

    • Hi Rob,

Levity is good. It helps people to relax and take things less seriously.

I can see where you are coming from. Given the gloomy colour scheme of Darth Vader, it is not a stretch to see him as the counterfeit self with is indeed the root of all our problems. That’s probably why he is hiding in the background instead of standing in the foreground like Iron Man. If we all learned to be authentic like Iron Man and embraced our unique entity, it would be a very different world that we live in.

  6. It’s funny that I should write a post about perception this week and then come over to your site to also read a post on the same topic. My post came as a result of recent events, of being wrongly perceived. I didn’t share about them on my post, though. The hurt feelings are still raw :-( However, I choose to wait patiently and believe that good will eventually come out of the situation.

Iron Man sure does a better job of magnetizing women! Lastly, I find it interesting that the word “jealousy” being cited as a reason for the conflict between Iron Man and Darth Vader. It may well be a message for me. Hmm…

    • Hi Evelyn,

I am sorry to hear that you were wrongly perceived. It is not a good position to be in and it is understandable that you didn’t share about it on your post since your hurt feelings are still raw. I do hope you get over it soon. Your attitude and wisdom towards this unfortunate incident will surely see you through. It is only a matter of time. :)

Yes, Iron Man is really popular with the ladies especially after Robert Downey Jr acted as Tony Stark. I suppose it helps that he is handsome under the armour as well. :P

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  7. Seems to me Iron Man is just having a party and being self amusing. Which are elements I see in my own life.

I don’t really take myself to seriously and welcome anyone to join my party. Seems to me Darth Vader is letting that effects him. But then again, maybe he’s just in character. Could you imagine darth striking up a pose like that? ;)

    • Hi Jack,

It is good to have a party and relax. It is better still to welcome anyone to join your party. It is no wonder Iron Man attracts the babes with this mindset. Darth Vader may just be in character. I can’t imagine him as anything other than gloomy.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  8. I do so agree with you Irving. Laughter is good for the soul. I think laughing and seeing the humor in something is a sign our heart is open and we choose whenever possible to see the beauty of existence.

    • Hi Christopher,

Wise words indeed. Laughter is good for the soul and we must challenge ourselves to see the humour where we can. Life would be bleak and dull otherwise. Keeping our hearts open allows us to see the beauty of existence indeed and that is what makes life worth living.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  9. Pretty funny … I was definitely intrigued by the title. I totally agree that laughter is good :) I will have to think of some clever titles :)

    • Hi Sibyl,

I am glad you liked the title. But I did have an easy time coming up with it since Darth Vader and Iron Man have never crossed paths until now.

I am not the most creative guy around so I am sure you can easily think of clever titles if you put your mind to it. ;)

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)

  10. This picture tells me a few different things. First the Darth Vader helment might be a lot heavier than the Iron Man one. Look at his neck. Secondly not only is he being outshined by Iron Man but he also is stuck in line behind Spiderman. It has to suck to be a bad guy surrounded by good guys. I would be sad too.Thirdly Dark Vader is used to being in a far away galaxy now he is stuck behind a emission spraying bus. It is putting his ventilator to its ultimate test. To make matters worse it even looks like Iron Man gets the girl.

My caption would be. The depressing adventures of Darth Vader. lol!

    • Hi Frank,

I never noticed that Darth Vader’s helmet was that heavy. Maybe you’ve had experiences with heavy helmets before. ;)

True, it sucks not being number 1, but number 3 is unbearable.

LOL! I love your observation about his ventilator being put to the ultimate test!

Indeed, “The depressing adventures of Darth Vader” is truly a fitting caption! :D

Thank you for sharing your funny insights! :D

  11. Wow!

I’m loving the humor here. I’m cracking up over here! And I never noticed Darth hanging in the background! It wasn’t until you mentioned it that I double-checked and saw him late on, lol. I don’t know about a slogan for the picture or a caption, but the unobtrusive presence of such darkness, and the patience denoted in his pose, speaks to me about the nature of darkness and how we must never let our guard down. Time is on his side. :)

    • Hi Delena,

I am glad you enjoyed the humour! All of us could use a good laugh from time to time. :)

You’re lucky Darth Vader can’t hear you or he would be really sad that you did not notice his megalomaniacal figure in the background.

That aside, we should always be on our guard against darkness. We never know when it might show up and even if we cannot prevent it, we should not be taken off guard by it.

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments! :)
